Summary:
The practice of a physician assistant shall include medical services within the education, training and experience of the physician assistant that are delegated by the supervising physician. Medical services rendered by physician assistants may include, but are not limited to, obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations; ordering and/or performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; formulating a diagnosis; developing and implementing a treatment plan; monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions; assisting at surgery; offering counseling and education to meet patient needs; making appropriate referrals. Physician assistants, in an emergency, shall be authorized to treat any medical disease and/or perform any medical and surgical procedures at the hospital for affiliates. An emergency, for these purposed, is defined as a situation in which any delay in administering treatment would result in serious harm to the patient or an immediate threat to life of the patient and that a qualified practitioner is not immediately available. Responsible for assisting chief PA in interviewing and training new PAs; assist chief PA with providing continuous on call sick coverage; general supervision of PAs as needed; assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures; liaison between department staff; nursing units, referring physicians, house staff officers and secretarial staff; assists with administrative issues for all department PAs. Oversee completion and submission of routine and special reports, as assigned; oversee various research protocols as assigned. Responsible for preparation of data for departmental performance improvement program; complete associated reports and record keeping as assigned. Administrative PAs can be delegated to supervise/validate staff PA performance. The activities listed above may be performed in any setting authorized by the supervising physician, including but not limited to, clinics, hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, patient homes, nursing homes and other institution settings. In addition to the Core Skills listed here, PAs will request validation to perform department specific skills. Job Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program. Registered as a physician assistant in New York State. NCCPA certified. Minimum of 2-3 years work experience as a physician assistant.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
