Social Worker (Program Program Coordinator IPVAP-C)

Administratively responsible for clinical programming and daily operations of the program. Develops policies and procedures for program operation and prepares reports and statistics. May be responsible for program budget and various control points assigned. Controls use of data related to day to day functioning and program evaluation. With the Service Chief, plans, organizes and directs administrative, operational, Veteran and personnel activities for the service. Responsible to establish partnerships with various committees, Employee Assistance Program and Employee Health Department to establish services for employees who experience and/or use violence. Practicing at the advanced level, has specialized knowledge that can be differentiated from the independent practice social worker by the ability to expand clinical knowledge in the profession, administer a facility program, provide consultation and guidance to colleagues, role model effective social work practice skills, teach or provide orientation to less experienced social workers, develop innovations in practice interventions, and provide clinical supervision for social work licensure or certification. Is assigned to work with multiple VA healthcare services and with community agencies, leaders and organizations where s/he has no access to social work clinical supervision. Responsible for developing and establishing linkages and collaborates on VA Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program efforts with community healthcare and social service agencies. Responsible and accountable for the clinical and program development and effectiveness of the facility Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program. Develops and implements the Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program specific to his/her area of assignment. Participates in direct Veteran, family, Caregiver, and VA employee contacts to identify and assess risk, safety, supports and the development and application of directed clinical treatment interventions. Advises and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on (IPV) issues. Creates educational tools, develops programs and implements training focused on specific IPV needs/issues. Provides education and in-service training. Provides ongoing consultation and support to colleagues regarding IPV assistance. Develops and facilitates support groups and educational programs. Conducts interventions to facilitate the identification of intimate partner violence, psychiatric illness, emotional distress and social needs as treatment issues. Collaborates with the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT), Mental Health and Geriatric Primary Care clinicians to provide Veteran and staff education on intimate partner violence. Will develop a library of IPV assistance information material for distribution through the various inpatient/outpatient and specialty clinic settings. Educational material must be specific to the age group serviced in the clinic. Serves as a liaison between the VA and community agencies. Participates in IPV assistance activities in the local community and state to promote and recognize the role of individuals who use and/or experience IPV. Participates on state and local IPV assistance committees. Invites state and community IPV related agencies to participate on the local VA IPV Assistance Advisory Board. Establishes and maintains access to electronic social networks in accordance with VA policy. Maintains basic knowledge of local VA medical center programs, community services and VA Central Office IPV Assistance initiatives. Maintains knowledge of current federal and state legislation related to IPV assistance initiatives. Coordinates the events and programs for the annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month that includes announcement and advertising of month long activities, mobilization of participants, educational sessions, and VA IPV Assistance programs. Will develop a data monitoring system to measure the efficacy of the program. Collects, analyzes and reports program data to local management, VISN Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program Coordinator Lead and the National Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program, Care Management and Social Work Service, Office of Patient Care Services. Evaluates program progress and outcomes and utilizes data to continuously modify and improve the program and processes. Performs a wide range of services and provides technical assistance to state, local, and private agencies, and universities. Technical assistance provided is based on monitoring activities and program reviews, and the development and analysis of information. Work Schedule:

Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Licensure. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the advance practice level, i.e. LCSW. Physical Requirements. See VA Directive and Handbook 5019. English Language Proficiency. Social workers must be proficient in spoken and written English. Grade Determinations:
Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator or manager must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level. Their experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. They may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. A valid state driver's license is required. Candidates that do not possess this requirement at the time of appointment will be considered ineligible. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the professional KSAs below. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 1. In-depth knowledge of the program coordinated, and demonstrated knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program 2. Knowledge and skill in management/administration, which includes supervision, consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. 3. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. 4. Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet multiple deadlines, and evaluate assigned program area(s). 5. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
